Recently was invited to listen to the epic telling of this story by my daughter. The mixture of new and familiar vocabulary, the colorful pictures, and the inability of her to pronounce the word “oath” (omath) produced an enjoyable and memorable experience.It’s flaptastic!

this series is delightful. My granddaughter started reading them at 3 1/2 years old. Or rather I started reading them to her. She couldn’t wait for the next one. It was the first chapter series we started with her. They are really fun. I highly recommend them.

My daughter zooms through this book in 1 day. She loves everything about the story line, pictures, how fun it is to read. She is 7 years old and is falling in love with reading because of this book series.

My daughters teacher recommended this series because my daughter didn’t want to stop reading picture books. These books allowed her to read at her level and still have the fun colorful images she loves.

My first graders and third grader all love reading these books. It is under the 3rd grader's level, but she enjoys them, nevertheless.

My granddaughter loves these books. Her reading level has outgrown the series, but I am ordering each book for her as they are released to add to her collection.

8 year old Daughtet is obsessed with this series .. so cute .. bought extras as friend gifts for Christmas and all the little girls loved them and can’t wait for next one to be released !

This is a very creative tale, lots of twists and a great deal of dry English folk wisdom. I am not familiar with English humour or family dynamics, so it was a revelation to me... quite a learning experience. I enjoyed it, however, and the ending was very satisfying. Good read!

Catherine Cookson is a very talented author but I did not believe this to be one of her best works. A gravedigger watches people go by the cemetery where he works and they have Saint Christopher medals hanging in their cars. He does not see the use for such because people are still dying. For the most part he has led a very somber non-confrontational life until he has and accident. This accident turns his (and his family’s) lives upside down. This story was humorous at times.

Very interesting book. The view of the grave digger towards St. Christopher was interesting. It is well written and keeps your interest involved.

This was a delightful book. I have read many of Catherine Cookson's books, and loved them all, but this is the first time I read one that was funny. It was a hoot. She makes her characters come so alive, and the serious consideration of an improbable experience all make for an enjoyable ride...oops, read. As my granddaughter would say. Good job!!

This is a very light-hearted read. A lot of Catherine's books are intense and have depressing plots however this one is the opposite. John and St. Christopher are developed quite well. I can still see St. Christopher winking at John. If you want an entertaining read and like Catherine Cookson I highly recommend this book!

I loved this novel. The characters are genuine and the plot is excellent. I truly cared about the grave digger and his family, and read the book in one afternoon. It deserves a five-star rating.

It was a little hard getting into this story at first for me, but I grew to love the characters! It was like watching an English soap opera! I loved the wit & charm the story held. It was very funny. I am glad to have downloaded it to my Kindle App. Thank you, Mrs. Cookson for a good, old fashioned romp!!

Fantastic tale that takes place in modern day England. Had me laughing so much. It pulled all together neatly at the end.

This book contains projects that are easy to get started on, and are very worthwhile projects to complete. The author makes it so easy. The language is concise. The photography is stunning, and illustrates the needed techniques very well.I do not know of any other enamelling book that has projects of this quality. You would be proud to give these to your friends and relatives. By making simple adaptions you could create your own designs. The projects require simple tools often found in consumer jewellry work.Easy to read, very well edited, richly illustrated, great projects, great price. What else could you ask for?John Dunbar

This book is ok. It shows step-by-step how to complete many projects. I just thought the projects were pretty daggy and a bit ugly. I can see how you can learn the technique, I just wasn't very inspired. This book is more of a craft/hobby style book.I also bought 'The Art of Enameling: Techniques, Projects, Inspiration' which I think is a fantastic book. If you are serious about making enamel jewellery I would recommend this book instead.

Excellent book to help you with this fine art. Will definitely recommend it to frineds and fellow artists.

This is not what I was expecting at all! The book says secrets to mental math, in reality it's just how to do math without a calculator which includes asking a friend, asking on online forums, doing a google search. Is the author kidding us? Really, you can send me the real book because these are not mental math techniques. Under division he suggests doing long division by hand. Um, that's not a mental math technique! You're not going to get the promised mental math techniques as promised in the title. Don't waste your money on this book.Overall this book is a waste of time and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.I received a digital copy of this book free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are 100% my own.

I'll admit that these are secrets. I didn't find them particularly helpful which is what I would think is the objective. If that wasn't the author's objective then I apologize. Of course the disclaimer at the beginning does state being helpful as an objective. The disclaimer has some additional odd... well here's an excerpt "It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any health problem or condition, nor is intended to replace the advice of a physician. No action should be taken solely on the contents of this book. Always consult your physician or qualified health-care professional on any matters regarding your health and before adopting any suggestions in this book or drawing inferences from it."Scotts, Jason (2013-06-29). I'm glad I stopped reading when I did. I don't recommend it.

This ebook was free with a provided review so I thought what the heck- it has got to be interesting and I like to write honest reviews so people know what they are getting themselves into. I am not sure I saw where the secrets are and it seems like a trivial book that someone wrote quickly and without much thought- where are the secrets exactly? Can anyone share? Did I miss something? As a teacher, I wasn't impressed with the material and it isn't anything I would have on my bookshelf- much of the book talks about approximations and rounding/estimating, which is a duh in the mathematics world. I read that instead of solving a problem just ask for the answer in a forum or google, search an answer... what am I reading? I am not sure I would recommend this to anyone and I am not completely sure of what I just read.

This was an interesting book. I actually chose it to read because I have never really *gotten* math. So, I certainly do not use a lot of mental math, as I prefer a calculator and thank the stars there is one on every phone now! Anyhow, this book was pretty interesting. It gives you a lot of tips on how to think or rethink math in your brain. I am never going to be a mathematician, but now I have a few more things in my toolbox to help with thinking through problems. I try to give reviews and not give spoilers. This is my take on the book without revealing what the book itself actually says. I think that each reader should go read it and find out for themselves. I am saying that the book does live up to its title and does give you a lot of secrets to help you mentally conquer math. i have never been good at math so i was wondering if this book would help me with understanding math this book is all about getting rid of the calculator they give you techniques for using mental math that can be done from the decimal system estimations and how it works with math guessing a answer so you know the range your in you really need to know your basic math but i will have to practice all of these things in the book it also talking about how your able to use multiplying by your 5 to help you find your answers gives you ways to add without a calculator and ways to subtract without a calculator this book gives a lot of tip and tricks and goes over all your basics without the calculator and that grate everything still going to take practice for me and i think this book is going to help me a lot in my math. i wish that they had picture examples though i learn more by watching and this really only covers the people that learn best from reading. i have got this product at a discount for a honest review

I’m a retired accountant. Accountants tend to become “calculator dependent” and lose their ability to quickly do mental math calculations. I thought this book was going to reveal some real “secrets”. Years and years ago, I had a boss that was a human calculator. I asked him once how he did it and he said just plain old fashioned memory retention. I should have believed him. After over forty years of searching I still have not found a “secret” to mental math abilities’. Either you have it or you don’t. Pure and simple. The best advice is to memorize your basic addition , multiplication tables and simple square roots and go from there.To give this book a little credit, it did have some good advice and it might be worth reading since it doesn’t cost anything. And it was entertaining for a geek like me.
