I usually do not review artistic works on Amazon since enjoyment of them is relatively subjective, so I won't do that here. My 5/5 star review, then, is based on 1) the quality of manufacture I've come to expect from Library of America (LoA) publications (these volumes are no different), and 2) the convenience of having Eiseley's prose writings in one place.It would cost less to buy all of his writings separately (used copies, of course), but he was unfortunately published in the middle of the 20th century when quality standards were quite low. My used editions from the 1960s/1970s are invariably falling apart. Additionally, the newer re-publications have an unfortunate number of printing defects. This LoA set does not suffer from quality defects and has all the writings in one place, which is great.I would have given the set 6/5 stars if it had contained a volume of his poetry.

Library of America has done it again. This set is beautifully designed and solidly built. The collection of Loren Eiseley's work is thoughtful and thorough. Also, the price is lower on Amazon than anywhere else I have seen these, so this is certainly the place to buy this collection.

I read most of Professor Eiseley's writings many years ago. It's nice to see them finally published as a collection. A true poet among scientists.

I love Loren Eiseley and there's nothing better than having his collected essays on the shelf or in my hands. I reread him frequently.

I loved Loren Eiseley's essays when the appeared in the Philadelphia Papers years ago-and I am enjoying reading them again all these years later.It is great to see them all together.

Loren Eiseley is one of the 20th century's great writers.

Excellent collection, in wonderful packaging. I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone looking for gorgeous prose, and deep insights into nature and the soul.

McKeown lays out an interesting theory of the lifecycle of an organization through seven potential stages; Early Struggle, Fun. White Water, Predictable Success, Treadmill, The Big Rut, and The Death Rattle.The challenge for every organization is to progress through the first three stages (Early Struggle, Fun and White Water), enter into Predictable Success and stay there. Many organizations fall backwards or progress too far in the model and end up failing.My takeaway from this book is that I need to be very aware of these business stages for each organization I am associated with. I need to challenge myself and other business leaders to make it to Predictable Success and then remain diligent to stay there and not slide backwards or forwards.

I have come across reworked versions of this concept before but Less' book Predictable Success is a must read if you are in leadership. This had the clarity to provide understanding about jobs that I have left and tools for looking to the future. Very relatable and worth whatever time to spend contemplating it's content.

This book was a friend's present. He gave the book because I was very frustrated about how everything was going in the organization, reading this book I found that we were arriving to white waters and need to adjust some processes to arrive to predictable success. I really recommend this book, it will give your great insights on how to build a great organization.

I like the walk though and break down of stages an organization will find them-self in. The frame work in which success, stagnation and failure occurred in an organization and how to prevented the latter from happening.

Love this book and the helpful insight to move businesses from start up to scale. My business is 8 years old and we are in Whitewater. Wish we would have known the business life cycle in the beginning but now we have hope and a plan to grow and scale!

In this easy-to-read book McKeown shares a 7-phase business life-cycle model that I could quickly match to the companies within my SMB (small-to-midsize business) client base. I have already begun to recommend it to clients for its accuracy and easy-to-understand and identify concepts. He's spot on. I predict clients will be nodding their heads and rolling their eyes, identifying their own situations within the phases, challenges and dysfunctions he describes as they read through it. It is a great look in the mirror.Another offering in a very similar vein, and also of great advisory value is "Corporate Life Cycles", by Isaac Adizes. Adizes is brilliant, though his explanations, while more thorough and also accurate, appear more academic. Corporate Life Cycles, unfortunately, is not available on Kindle and a bit pricey at $99 - but it's a very worthwhile addition to your library.Together these books are "must-reads" for the professional business advisor.

The Philokalia is a wellspring of spiritual truth and guidance. This book is a worthy guide to its themes and its aim - a deeper spiritual life in step with God. With numerous quotes from the ancients mingled with careful reflection, the truths and methods that have sustained the faithful are explained and nurtured. Richness is too limited a word for what is found in this book.

Coniaris has successfully collected the basic teachings from the Philokalia and presented them in layman's terms. This will most likely be another of his books that I read again.

This is a great book for students trying to learn the ins and outs of reading EKGs. The method Dubin uses is pretty standard to approaching EKG interpretation. This book will not get into complex issues but provides an excellent foundation for reading EKGs. It is a little dated but it is so cheap, it's worth your time.Grade: B+

If you need to learn EKG's then this book is a MUST!! This book was a lifesaver and helped me so much a long the way. I recommend this book to anyone in the medical field or schooling area.

Got this for my anxious 3-year-old. Very glad that I did. These are methods that she can learn now & keep throughout her life. I was surprised by the quality of the book design. It feels good to hold & is well designed. The illustrations are lovely. The book itself is calming. Simply beautiful. Would make a good gift & good for any child. So thankful for this book.

My 7 yo was upset. Decided to try this. Tried one, didn’t work. Tried another didn’t work. Tried a 3rd didn’t work. Tried a 4th. Worked like a charm. Thankfully there are 50 exercises in here. You are bound to find one. They are all child friendly enough that they will engage your child. Even the ones that purportedly didn’t work held the attention and maybe they were indeed working. Maybe it takes time to calm down. All will hold their attention.

We love this book so much! My 4 year old has severe anxiety. I have been trying to find age appropriate ways to teach her mindfulness and get her to pause and breathe when she starts getting anxious. Kira Willey's book doesthe job for me in an absolutely fantastic way. The illustrations are engaging, each practice is inventive (but on a level that a 4 year old can understand), and the way the practices are divided makes it much easier for me to pick on in a pinch. We've been doing a meditation from this book every day, and I've seen a big difference in how my little handles her anxiety.

This book is delightful and, like author Kira Willey's music, pleasing to both kids and adults alike. My energetic six-year-old son willingly and happily sits to practice the fun, simple mindfulness activities. I love that he is learning bite-sized ways to increase awareness, focus, and the ability to calm himself. Every child can benefit from mindfulness — Breathe Like a Bear delivers it beautifully.

Perfect to read just a few at a time, practice them together. We do them in public alot when my son needs to calm down. He is 4.5 and enjoys reading the book, doing the activities, and can use them to calm down when directed.He struggles (although not often) with being easily overwhelmed, anxious, and upset. When he encounters a situation that upsets him, he works himself up until he can't even talk. These quickly calm him back down. This is exactly what we needed! We were on a vacation when he had panic attack at a fun "experience" that was about $50 per person due to overwhelming visuals and noises. He had been so excited to go, and had been talking about it for weeks. But ended up spending less than 10 minutes inside, and wouldn't go back in. It breaks my heart that we didnt have this book before then because I think he reasonably knows that certain things arent real but in the moment cant cope. There are SO many exercises in this book to help with SO many situations. This is the handbook that parents of sensitive kiddos need. Taking a moment to calm down can be fun. And other pages include instructions on how to "send positive thoughts" and other important conversation starters for little ones.

We love this book so much. I have a preschool-aged child, and we have been looking for more ways to teach him mindfulness. Since we bought this book, he looks forward to doing one of the exercises before we wind down for bedtime. The pictures are beautiful and the different techniques are fun for kids (and adults!).

My 6 year old son absolutely Loves this book. I've tried different calm book and this is the most perfect for him now in his stage in life. He loves that it has sections. He picks a section and has me read the title of 'the chapers' and then finds the page number. The pictures are sooo cute and he has really resonated with the exercises. We've even been able to successfully use a few of the exercises during the day in a challenging time when his emotions were rising to shift to calm. Yay!

A must have! Such a GREAT quality book too- graphics are beautiful, overall binding is perfect and sturdy.The stories have really helped my child (and me!), learn to me more aware of our feelings, and manage them accordingly (when they need to be managed).
