After reading The Power of Zero, I was very interested in more information on LIRPs, specifically to answer three questions: (1) Is there an upper age limit when starting a LIRP no longer makes sense? (2) How do premiums and coverage vary by the age at which you start a LIRP? (3) How much Long Term Care coverage is provided with a rider?I didn’t really get those answers.The best I can surmise is that the ideal candidate needs to overfund the premiums for at least 10 years, but have no idea how much a premium might be, and how it can vary by age. So I assume it’s recommended to start a LIRP by age 50 or earlier, with no distributions (loans) taken for at least 15 years. The only two examples provided for Long Term Care coverage were for 4 years only. Both examples used a death benefit of $400,000 x 2% = $8,000 per month, which implies 4 years (50 months) is the maximum length of time the coverage would provide, and that it’s always figured at 2%. Could you take 1% at $4,000 and get 8 years of coverage…..I don’t know. Do you have to continue proving (via doctor) that you continue to need LTC all those years…..I don’t know. The book has great details, tables and examples for everything else, but missed the mark on the reasons I bought it. A short book (84 pages) and easy to read.

This second book by David McKnight, "Look Before You LIRP," helps to demystify what to me is at once the best, and the most under-utilized tool available in retirement planning.I am like most financial advisors in that my introduction to retirement planning focused almost exclusively on stock market-based strategies. We were not taught to plan for the increasing risk that today’s retirees face of higher tax rates (in fact, potentially dramatic tax increases). The LIRP strategy was never on my radar … not in the finance classes, the licensing exams, and definitely not in the brokerage training. Based on solid, dependable insurance concepts, the LIRP is simply not widely understood in the securities industry.In his first book, "The Power of Zero," McKnight compellingly presented the case for addressing three risk areas that could upend a traditional retirement plan: market risk, higher taxation (what McKnight terms “legislative risk”), and higher healthcare costs, particularly for long term care. And now, in "Look Before You LIRP," McKnight takes us under the hood of the LIRP, describing in detail how to find the most suitable combination of features for an effective LIRP strategy.Written in an accessible, conversational style, this book can be easily understood by the client, and even the most seasoned professional will learn new things. I know I did.

Wow! Finally a readable book that explains how life insurance can be used in succession planning. And I understand it!!! After reading the book, I am more intelligent comparing products and making plans. I read other books, and my head was just spinning. I was ready to give up. But now, I know what we need to do. Finally. What a relief. Thank you David McKnight!

No matter what your background is, you will not be setting up your own LIRP (or at least it's unlikely; if you do, you will not be reading my review). If you can't understand anything in the book, you are likely educated enough to write down what the book says and require answers from your broker

This book is a straight forward step-by-step lesson on how to properly evaluate and choose the correct type of life insurance policy as part of an overall tax-free retirement plan. Life insurance in general can be confusing and complicated to the point that most agents, even the best intention-ed ones, don't understand some of the important things to watch out for when recommending life insurance to their clients. This book is a must-read before you add a life insurance plan to your retirement plan.

David McKnight's book explains in clear, understandable language the benefits of a life insurance retirement plan. LIRP's provide safety as well as a productive way to save for a tax free retirement. However, not all LIRP's are the same. David points out the criteria for a good LIRP. This includes low fees, reasonable growth potential, guaranteed loan provisions, and provisions for long term care. David dispels the myths that have grown up around the LIRP which are largely based on misunderstandings by those with limited knowledge on how LIRP's really work. Definitely a good read and I like how short of a read it is. If you can put this into practice I think it's well worth it. it takes a lot of the complication out of retirement planning especially if you do not already have a plan in place.

Been through about 30% of the book. i am an experienced programmer and in my life have used hundreds of self help books for various languages. The book is good for beginners and explains everything at a basic level as the name suggests. However the writing is a little too verbose and what irritates me is the lack of any formatting of the text. This makes following the steps difficult as you are reading long paragraphs of statements (that really should have been billeted). A lot of reading time is also wasted when a row of Xcode menu icons are explained with comments such “don’t worry about this icon I will get to it later”. It would have been better to walk the user through a process of doing something and explaining whatever menu icons are relevant and leave explaining the other Xcode functionality for when it needs to be explained.

This book is pretty darn good. There are a few errors in it, but I easily figured out how to adjust the code so that it compiles properly. 99.8% of the code is correct. The author does a good job of explaining most of the code segments. She makes you understand what the code does and how it works. I'm almost done with the book...and I will soon be moving to her next book on the subject...Pro iPhone Development with Swift 4.

So far I'm in chapter 4, everything is excellent. However, there is one code that is not updated so there is warning on it when you write. To be more precise is in the Listing 4-12 line ": you can...", the warning message says "String Interpolation...". After some research, apparently this kind of error appeared in swift 3.1, so it is weird that it still there. I decided to keep going, but I was unable to solve.Otherwise the book is good.

Some may say that the book is nothing else but an ad for authors' other services (personal courses...etc), but the point is that there is still an invaluable amount of information here. Very easy to read and to apply. Excellent to avoid wasting time and to know what is required before launching a private label brand. Even if you plan to launch a big business, the first steps are here.

I found the book a very fast read. It was filled with facts on developing a product from scratch to bringing it to market. The book was great because it was concise and to the point. No fluff, just facts on "how to". If you want to get started on your product I highly recommend purchasing this book. Every page gives you instructions. A must for your library.

Daniel Wildenstein (1917-2001) was an art historian and member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (Paris). From 1939 onwards, he was Director of the Wildenstein Galleries of New York, London and Tokyo. He edited several international journals, e.g. the magazine Arts from 1956-1962 and the Gazette des Beaux-Arts after 1963. He co-founded the Fondation Wildenstein in 1970 (it was renamed the Wildenstein Institute in 1984), and was a prime mover in many exhibitions of international repute. Daniel Wildenstein also edited the catalogues raisonnés of various 18th, 19th and 20th century artists. He was a world authority on Impressionism, and published catalogues of the works of Gauguin, Manet and Monet.

This is a new edition which is a very small book. The photos of the paintings are decent quality but are VERY SMALL. I returned this book and sought out the earlier coffee table size edition which is large and you can actually enjoy Monet's paintings.

This is a biography of his life with a lot of pictures, but not a lot of art criticism. You can learn when a picture was painted, where it was painted, how much it sold for, who it sold to, where it was sold, whether Monet had a good year that year, and so on, but very little about the impact of his art on his fellow painters, on the movement, and on Modern art. Somewhat disappointing.

This was a holiday gift for a dear neighbor who loves Impressionist art as much as I do. After presentation, I had a chance to review it, and it is truly a magnificent presentation of the work of a great painter.I would recommend this book for any art lover.

Much smaller than I thought it would be (especially since they increased the price by $4). Its smaller than a hardcover novel & the text is pretty small.

I bought this as a gift for an amateur artist. She and I were both impressed by the depth of detail and the huge wealth of gorgeous color pictures of Monet's work. This is a wonderful read for anyone who enjoys biographies or art.

Gorgeous things come in smaller packages. This book is about seven long and five inches wide. The pages are super good quality and even though the photos are not coffee tabled size, they are excellent quality and all in color. Also the editors did a marvelous job with the biography of the artist.

This is a much smaller-format reprint of the first volume of a much larger (and more expensive) 1996 edition. Consequently, the size of the illustrations is significantly reduced and the printed text is miniscule. Nevertheless, this is still a beautiful and quite affordable edition and a must-have for Monet fans.The color plates are copious and expertly reproduced. The volume is also a painstakingly researched biography, thereby doubling its value. I recommend it highly with the caveat about the book's size. At only 8 x 6 inches, it might have given me pause before I purchased it, but as it is, I'm glad I didn't hesitate. Highly recommended.

He was interested in the great histories, in the sweeping sagas, in the stories that were written not as modern novels, but as texts that might have jumped straight out of the world he created. Some of Tolkien's mythological material made it into 'The Lord of the Rings.' Much of it did not. He wanted to publish the histories--the Silmarillion saga--alongside the books we all know today, but the publishers turned him down repeatedly. He died without seeing any of that work published, and when his son Christopher tried to make one cohesive text from the massive amounts of material, much of it was bastardized. Only later did Christopher edit and release over a dozen volumes of original texts, showing us a bit more of the scope of the history Tolkien had imagined.Why am I telling you this about Tolkien in a review for GRR Martin? This should seem fairly obvious by now: GRR Martin has the same longing Tolkien did. He has the same love of the grand, sweeping historical epic. So far he has been giving us his 'Lord of the Rings,' his drama of the minutiae, but in the process he got caught up in the grand and glorious visions of the Targaryens, just as Tolkien was swept up into the glories of the First Age. It’s no mistake this book is being called the “GRRMillion.”Martin's popularity is granting him a chance that Tolkien unfortunately never had in his lifetime: To create his myth IN FULL. To give us the grand sweep of things in the greater world, beyond just the characters we know and love in 'A Song of Ice and Fire.'Please accept this book for what it is, rather than complaining about what it does not aim to be. And what exactly is it? An artefact from Westeros. It should be read not as a book Martin wrote, but one he transcribed, from the original text by Archmaester Gyldayn. It will require some work on the part of the reader. The lines have been drawn, and we are being asked to fill in the colors with our imaginations. This participatory reading is what can make history so engaging—it takes work, but the work pays off.We have two choices: We can claw after the next GoT book, complaining that the author hasn’t yet met our demands. Or we can allow the author a chance to fill out his universe. For my part, this stuff is more exciting than the series proper. We get to see the bigger picture that all of the Song of Ice and Fire is a part of. If you don't want this sort of thing, simply move on rather than ruining the experience for others.I remember what it felt like to sit down one day as a boy and open 'The Silmarillion.' I was holding the Bible of the Elves. It was a piece of that world. It was a text that might have been read by a scholar in Minas Tirith. It was magic. Martin has the chance to give us this now. Imagine being Samwell Tarly, sitting in the Citadel's library, opening up this ponderous and magical tome about the history of the Targaryens for the first time.Why now, though? Why not wait until he's finished telling the main story? For my part, I'd rather follow the passion of a writer than get mediocre work demanded by fans. Martin created this universe for us; let him follow his vision for how it should proceed. He was caught up in the glorious history of his universe as he was telling his story, and he wants us to have it in all of its rich complexity. I can only wish that Tolkien had had the same opportunity in his lifetime. We only see fragments of what that might have been. But Martin is giving us his own great mythology, in his own lifetime, whole and complete; and I am a boy again with wonder.This, my friends, is going to be a feast.

I didn’t finish the book yet but read a decent portion. First, reviews that state they’re not reading this until Winds of Winter comes out shouldn’t be allowed because they have nothing to do with this book. We’re all annoyed that GRRM has taken this long to complete the series and is continuing to write other side projects. Fire & Blood fills in a lot of blanks, but would have been more interesting if it was written like Dunk & Egg, as tales. This reads more like Westeros.org or a Wikipedia article. It’s still interesting and has good art, just don’t expect it to be page turner or a book you can’t put down.

This book is literally just copied and pasted from the book "The World of Ice and Fire."

The degree to which you will enjoy this depends on two things:- Do you enjoy reading history books?- Are you a serious fan of this fictional world, and want to know the background behind everything?If you answered yes to both, you will enjoy this.Personally, I do enjoy history books, but I prefer learning about fictional worlds in a more conventional format - a character-centric story, e.g., along the lines of GRRM’s other books.For example - I just don’t care that much about the names of various nobles who’s names are only mentioned to name the leader of an army that the Targaryans flew over and burned. I’d much rather have a story from, say, Aegon’s immediate viewpoint and experiences. That is not what this book is about though.I think there will be a lot of folks who enjoy this book, but if you were looking for a book that “humanizes” the list of names that preceded the main series, this isn’t the book you are looking for.

About 100 pages in and can’t put it down. Love Westeros and it’s history.And as the others leaving “reviews” so astutely put, this is not Winds of Winter. Get over it. You’re more than welcome to go write your own epic fantasy books at your own pace.

This is a boring history of Westeros. Really disappointed that, almost ten years later, Mr. Martin continues to work on other projects and not on the completion of this book. Please just commit to finish winds before taking on more!

My god people, Martin doesn't owe you anything, quit complaining that he didn't write the book *you* wanted or *how* you wanted. It is clearly stated in the description what this book is about. It's because of people complaining and being petulant children that he has struggled to finish Winds of Winter. Appreciate what he has done or don't, but to whine like spoiled adolescents just shows how immature and ungrateful some of you people are!If he hasn't written to your liking, why don't you go write a series for yourself and spare us all the entitled attitude.I have found this book incredibly fascinating, but I enjoy history textbooks and the like. This is a wonderful imagination of an imaginary world and its history, and it feels like a book equivalent of sinking into a long, hot bath.
